Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(42:40) The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Literal

(42:40) And a sin`s/crime`s reimbursement (is) a sin/crime equal to it , so who forgave/pardoned and corrected/repaired , so his reward (is) on God, that He truly does not love/like the unjust/oppressors.
