وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ امْرَأَتُ الْعَزِيزِ تُرَاوِدُ فَتَاهَا عَنْ نَفْسِهِ ۖ قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا ۖ إِنَّا لَنَرَاهَا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

Sahih International

(12:30) And women in the city said, "The wife of al-'Azeez is seeking to seduce her slave boy; he has impassioned her with love. Indeed, we see her [to be] in clear error."

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(12:30) And women in the city said: "The wife of Al-'Aziz is seeking to seduce her (slave) young man, indeed she loves him violently; verily we see her in plain error."

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(12:30) And women in the city said: The ruler's wife is asking of her slave-boy an ill-deed. Indeed he has smitten her to the heart with love. We behold her in plain aberration.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(12:30) Ladies said in the City: "The wife of the (great) 'Aziz is seeking to seduce her slave from his (true) self: Truly hath he inspired her with violent love: we see she is evidently going astray."

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(12:30) And women in the city said: The chiefs wife seeks her slave to yield himself (to her), surely he has affected her deeply with (his) love; most surely we see her in manifest error.

(12:30) And (some) women folk in the city said, "The wife of the governor (Literally: the ever-mighty Al-Aziz) is soliciting her page; (Literally: seeking to win his self ) he has already smitten (her heart) with love; (Literally: affected her pericardium, i.e; infatuated her) surely we indeed see her in evident error."

(12:30) Women (gossiping) in the city said: "The minister’s wife has sought to enjoy herself by her slave-boy. Certainly it (her desire for him) has pierced her heart with love. We see that she has plainly lost her wits and her way."

Amatul Rahman Omar

(12:30) And the women talked in the city, `The wife of the ´Azîz (- Potiphar, the captain of king´s guard) seeks to seduce her young slave against his will. His love has indeed penetrated deep in her heart. Indeed, we see her in obvious error (in going too far in her love).´

(12:30) And women in the city/town said: "Elaziz/the Egyptian ruler`s woman (wife) seduces/entices her youth/slave/servant from himself, he had affected her deeply/deeply impassioned her lovingly , that157we see/understand her (E) in evident misguidance."

(12:30) In the city the women gossiped: "The minister's wife longs after her page. He has captured her heart. We think she is in clear error."

(12:30) Certain women that were in the city said, 'The Governor's wife has been soliciting her page; he smote her heart with love; we see her in manifest error.

(12:30) And women in the city said; the wife of the AZiZ hath solicited her page against himself; he hath inflamed her with love; verily we behold her in error manifest.

(12:30) O Joseph, turn aside from this. And (O my wife), ask forgiveness for thy sin. Surely thou are one of the sinful.

(12:30) Some of the women in the town started to gossip saying, "The King's wife has tried to seduce her servant and has fallen madly in love with him. We think that she is in manifest error".

(12:30) Women in the town began to gossip, "The nobleman's wife is trying to seduce her slave! Love for him consumes her heart! Indeed! We see her in manifest error."

(12:30) And women in the city said: "The wife of the `Aziz is seeking to seduce her (slave) young man, indeed she loves him violently; verily, we see her in plain error."

Ali Quli Qarai

(12:30) Some of the townswomen said, ‘The chieftain’s wife has solicited her slave boy! He has captivated her love. Indeed we see her to be in manifest error.’

Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish

(12:30) Certain women in the city said: 'The Governor's wife has sought to seduce her servant. He has made her heart stricken with love for him. Clearly, we perceive her to be in error'
