Quran surah Ali 'Imran 77 in english translation

Sahih International

(3:77) Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their [own] oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(3:77) Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter (Paradise). Neither will Allah speak to them, nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful torment.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(3:77) Lo! those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths, they have no portion in the Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them nor look upon them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He make them grow. Theirs will be a painful doom.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(3:77) As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own plighted word for a small price, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter: Nor will Allah (Deign to) speak to them or look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He cleans them (of sin): They shall have a grievous penalty.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(3:77) (As for) those who take a small price for the covenant of Allah and their own oaths-- surely they shall have no portion in the hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them, nor will He look upon them on the day of resurrection nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful chastisement.

Dr. Ghali

(3:77) Surely the ones who trade the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a little price, those will have no apportioning in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them, nor look upon them on the Day of the Resurrection, nor will He cleanse them; and they will have a painful torment.

Ali Unal

(3:77) As to those who sell God’s covenant and their oaths for a trifling price, there will be no share for them in the Hereafter; and God will not speak to them nor look upon them (with mercy) on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them (of their sins to absolve them). And for them is a painful punishment.

Amatul Rahman Omar

(3:77) (On the contrary) those who take paltry gains for (shaking off their) covenant with Allâh and their oaths, it is these for whom there shall be no big share in the Hereafter, Allâh will never speak to them (lovingly) nor look at them (with affection) on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He treat them as pure

Literal

(3:77) That those (who) buy/volunteer with God`s promise/contract and their oaths a small price, those/these (have) no share of blessing/fortune for them in the end (other life), and God does not speak/talk to them, and nor look to them (on) the Resurrection Day and nor purifies/corrects them, and for them (is a) painful torture.

Ahmed Ali

(3:77) Those who trade on the promises of God, and who purchase a little gain from their oaths, will have no share in the life to come. God will not address or even regard them on the Day of Resurrection, nor perfect them, and their suffering will be painful.

A. J. Arberry

(3:77) Those that sell God's covenant, and their oaths, for a little price, there shall be no share for them in the world to come; God shall not speak to them neither look on them on the Resurrection Day, neither will He purify them; and for them awaits a painful chastisement.

Abdul Majid Daryabadi

(3:77) Verily those who barter Allah's covenant and their oaths at a Small price- no portion is theirs in the Hereafter; nor shall Allah speak unto them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor shall He cleanse them, and theirs shall be a torment afflictive.

Maulana Mohammad Ali

(3:77) Yea, whoever fulfils his promise and keeps his duty -- then Allah surely loves the dutiful.

Muhammad Sarwar

(3:77) And, verily, amongst them is a sect who twist the Scriptures with their tongues, that you may suppose it to be from the Book, but it is not from the Book. They say, "It is from Allah," but it is not from Allah, and they tell a lie against Allah knowingly.

Faridul Haque
