وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ

Sahih International

(37:30) And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(37:30) And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(37:30) We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(37:30) Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(37:30) And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people;

(37:30) And in no way did we have any all- binding authority over you; no indeed, (but) you were an inordinate people."
