فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Quran surah Ash Shu‘ara 189 in english translation

Sahih International

(26:189) And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(26:189) But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(26:189) But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(26:189) But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(26:189) But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day.
