فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا بَأْسَنَا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِ مُشْرِكِينَ

Sahih International

(40:84) And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him."

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(40:84) So when they saw Our punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah Alone and reject (all) that we used to associate with Him as (His) partners.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(40:84) Then, when they saw Our doom, they said: We believe in Allah only and reject (all) that we used to associate (with Him).

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(40:84) But when they saw Our Punishment, they said: "We believe in Allah,- the one Allah - and we reject the partners we used to join with Him."

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(40:84) But when they saw Our punishment, they said: We believe in Allah alone and we deny what we used to associate with Him.
