قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَا إِلَّا إِحْدَى الْحُسْنَيَيْنِ ۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِعَذَابٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا ۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ مُتَرَبِّصُونَ

Sahih International

(9:52) Say, "Do you await for us except one of the two best things while we await for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Himself or at our hands? So wait; indeed we, along with you, are waiting."

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(9:52) Say: "Do you wait for us (anything) except one of the two best things (martyrdom or victory); while we await for you either that Allah will afflict you with a punishment from Himself or at our hands. So wait, we too are waiting with you."

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(9:52) Say: Can ye await for us aught save one of two good things (death or victory in Allah's way)? while we await for you that Allah will afflict you with a doom from Him or at our hands. Await then! Lo! We are awaiting with you.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(9:52) Say: "Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things- (Martyrdom or victory)? But we can expect for you either that Allah will send his punishment from Himself, or by our hands. So wait (expectant); we too will wait with you."

(9:52) Say: Do you await for us but one of two most excellent things? And we await for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Himself or by our hands. So wait; we too will wait with you.

(9:52) Say (to the hypocrites): "Or else are you are expecting for us other than one of the two best things (namely, victory or martyrdom in God’s cause)? But what we expect for you is that God will inflict punishment upon you from Himself or by our hands! Wait, then, and we too are waiting with you."

(9:52) Say, `You only await for us one of the two good things (- victory or martyrdom), while we await for you (one of two evils to befall) that Allâh will afflict you with punishment either from Himself or at our hands. Wait then, we are (also) waiting with you (as to our respective ends).

(9:52) Say: "Do you wait/remain with us except (that) one (of) the two goods (afflicts us), and we wait/remain with you that God strikes/hits you with torture from at Him or with our hands, so wait/remain , we are with you waiting/remaining."
