قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ

Quran surah Ya Sin 19 in english translation

Sahih International

(36:19) They said, "Your omen is with yourselves. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people."

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(36:19) They (Messengers) said: "Your evil omens be with you! (Do you call it "evil omen") because you are admonished? Nay, but you are a people Musrifun (transgressing all bounds by committing all kinds of great sins, and by disobeying Allah).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(36:19) They said: Your evil augury be with you! Is it because ye are reminded (of the truth)? Nay, but ye are froward folk!

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(36:19) They said: "Your evil omens are with yourselves: (deem ye this an evil omen). If ye are admonished? Nay, but ye are a people transgressing all bounds!"

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(36:19) They said: Your evil fortune is with you; what! if you are reminded! Nay, you are an extravagant people.

Dr. Ghali

(36:19) They said, "Your bird (of augury) is with you; is it so, in case you are reminded? (i.e; Do you call it an evil omen that we remind you?) No indeed, (but) you are an extravagant people."

(36:19) (The Messengers) said: "What you describe as augury lies with you. What? (Do you consider it an ill augury) to be reminded (of the truth) and admonished? No, indeed! Rather, you are a people committing excesses and wasteful of your God-given faculties."

(36:19) They said, `Your ills are of your own making. (Do you say all this) because you have been admonished? Nay, but the real thing is you are a pack of transgressors.´

(36:19) They said: "Your omen (fate/future is) with you, (even if you) are, you were reminded, but you are a nation (of) wasters/extravagators ."

(36:19) (The messengers) said: "The augury is within your own selves. Do you (consider it a bad omen) that you should be warned? You are a people guilty of excess."
