يُرِيدُونَ لِيُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَاللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

Sahih International

(61:8) They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(61:8) They intend to put out the Light of Allah (i.e. the religion of Islam, this Quran, and Prophet Muhammad SAW) with their mouths. But Allah will complete His Light even though the disbelievers hate (it).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(61:8) Fain would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light however much the disbelievers are averse.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(61:8) Their intention is to extinguish Allah's Light (by blowing) with their mouths: But Allah will complete (the revelation of) His Light, even though the Unbelievers may detest (it).

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(61:8) They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His light, though the unbelievers may be averse.

(61:8) They would (like) to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths; and Allah is perfecting His Light even though the disbelievers hate (that)

(61:8) They long to extinguish God’s light with (a breath from) their mouths (as if it entailed no more than extinguishing a candle with a breath), but God will surely perfect His light, however hateful (it may be) to the unbelievers.

(61:8) They desire to extinguish the light of Allâh with (the breath of) their mouths. But Allâh will perfect His light even though the disbelievers consider it hard.

(61:8) They want/intend to extinguish/put out God`s light with their mouths, and God (is) completing His light, and even if the disbelievers hated (it).

(61:8) They want to extinguish the light of God by uttering blasphemies. But God wills to perfect His light, however the unbelievers may dislike it.
