فَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ قَمِيصَهُ قُدَّ مِنْ دُبُرٍ قَالَ إِنَّهُ مِنْ كَيْدِكُنَّ ۖ إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٌ

Sahih International

(12:28) So when her husband saw his shirt torn from the back, he said, "Indeed, it is of the women's plan. Indeed, your plan is great.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(12:28) So when he (her husband) saw his [(Yusuf's (Joseph)] shirt torn at the back; (her husband) said: "Surely, it is a plot of you women! Certainly mighty is your plot!

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(12:28) So when he saw his shirt torn from behind, he said: Lo! this is of the guile of you women. Lo! the guile of you is very great.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(12:28) So when he saw his shirt,- that it was torn at the back,- (her husband) said: "Behold! It is a snare of you women! truly, mighty is your snare!

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(12:28) So when he saw his shirt rent from behind, he said: Surely it is a guile of you women; surely your guile is great:

(12:28) So, as soon as he saw his shirt ripped from the rear, he said, "Surely this is of your (The Arabic adjective is feminine plural) (women's) plotting; surely your (The Arabic adjective is feminine plural) plotting is monstrous.

(12:28) So when he (her husband) saw that his shirt was torn from the back, he (turned to his wife and) said: "This is from the guile of you women; for sure your guile is great."

(12:28) So when he (- her husband) saw his shirt torn from behind, he (at once understood the truth of the matter and) said (to his wife), `This is surely a (deceiving) device which you women practise. Your (cunning) device is indeed great.´

Literal

(12:28) So when he saw his shirt/dress (was) ripped/cut from (the) back/end, he said: "That it is from your (F) plotting/conspiring that your (F) plotting/conspiring (is) great."

(12:28) When the husband saw the shirt torn at the back, he said: "Surely this is a woman's ruse, and the wiles of women are great.

(12:28) And when he saw his shirt torn at the back, he said: 'This is one of your (women's) guiles. Your guile, (O woman), is great indeed!
