ذَٰلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِالْغَيْبِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي كَيْدَ الْخَائِنِينَ

Quran surah Yusuf 52 in english translation

Sahih International

(12:52) That is so al-'Azeez will know that I did not betray him in [his] absence and that Allah does not guide the plan of betrayers.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(12:52) [Then Yusuf (Joseph) said: "I asked for this enquiry] in order that he (Al-'Aziz) may know that I betrayed him not in secret. And, verily! Allah guides not the plot of the betrayers.

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(12:52) (Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(12:52) This (say I), in order that He may know that I have never been false to him in his absence, and that Allah will never guide the snare of the false ones.

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(12:52) This is that he might know that I have not been unfaithful to him in secret and that Allah does not guide the device of the unfaithful.

Dr. Ghali

(12:52) That (is so); so that he may know I did not betray him in (his) absence, and that Allah does not guide the plotting of the treacherous.

Ali Unal

(12:52) (Joseph was informed of the women’s confessions and the declaration of his innocence. He explained why he had asked for the inquiry:) "This was so that he (my former lord) should know that I did not betray him in his absence, and that God never guides the schemes of the treacherous (to success).

(12:52) (When the news was brought to Joseph he said,) `This (course of action I adopted) so that he (- the `Azîz) might know that I had not betrayed him in (his) absence and that Allâh suffers not the device of the unfaithful to succeed.´

Literal

(12:52) That (it is) to him to know that I, I did not betray/become unfaithful to him with the unseen/hidden and that God does not guide the betrayer`s/unfaithful`s plot/conspiracy .

Ahmed Ali

(12:52) (At this Joseph remarked:) "From this (the Minister) should know that I did not betray him in his absence, and that God does not surely let the wiles of those who betray ever succeed.

(12:52) (Joseph said), "This proves that I was not disloyal to the King in his absence. God does not grant success to the efforts of disloyal people.

(12:52) He (the king sent for the women and) said, "What happened when you sought to seduce Joseph?" They said, "Allah preserve us! We know no evil of him." Said the wife of the Minister, "Now is the truth exposed! It was I who sought to seduce him. Truly, he is of the truthful."

(12:52) Said Yusuf, "I did this so that the governor may realise that I did not betray him behind his back, and Allah does not let the deceit of betrayers be successful."

(12:52) “This is that he may know that I did not betray him in secret, and that God does not guide the scheming of the betrayers.”

(12:52) Said Yusuf, “I did this so that the governor may realise that I did not betray him behind his back, and Allah does not let the deceit of betrayers be successful.”

(12:52) From this, said Joseph, "[The nobleman] should know that I did not betray him in his absence, and that God does not guide the plotting of the treacherous.

(12:52) [Then Yusuf said: "I asked for this inquiry] in order that he may know that I betrayed him not in (his) absence." And, verily, Allah guides not the plot of the betrayers.

(12:52) [Joseph said], [‘I initiated] this [inquiry], that he may know that I did not betray him in his absence, and that Allah does not further the schemes of the treacherous.’

Hasan al-Fatih Qaribullah and Ahmad Darwish

(12:52) This (I have done) so that he will know I did not secretly betray him, and that Allah does not guide the guile of the treacherous.
