وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

Sahih International

(36:74) But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan,

(36:74) And they have taken besides Allah aliha (gods), hoping that they might be helped (by those so called gods).

Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(36:74) And they have taken (other) gods beside Allah, in order that they may be helped.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(36:74) Yet they take (for worship) gods other than Allah, (hoping) that they might be helped!

Mohammad Habib Shakir

(36:74) And they have taken gods besides Allah that they may be helped.
